How to Achieve Even your Biggest Goals

With the end of the year fast approaching you might be thinking of all the goals you want to achieve in 2018. I know I am. 2018 is going to be the year I launch my own business and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t mildly terrified. Mildly being the understatement of the century… But after months and months of research, here I have gathered everything which I have learned on how to achieve your goals (any goal) and hopefully,  it will help to you achieve everything you’re hoping to achieve this year!

  1. The Number One Rule of Achieving a Goal is Actually Having a Goal!
You would be surprised how many times I have heard people say things like ‘I want to write a book’, before finding out that they have no idea what book they want to write. That’s not a goal, that’s a dream. Turn your dreams into goals by honing in on them.Don’t say: “I want to write a book”, but instead say “I have an idea and I am going to turn it into a book.”
Don’t say “I want to be fit”, but instead, say “I want to be able to run for 5k straight.”

Specifics are your friend when it comes to goal making!

  2. Have a Game-Plan.
Whether you are starting your own business, want to run 5k, or even if you want to have better sex; this year you need a plan. Will you be going to tantric massages once a month in order to improve your sex life? Do you have an outline of your book ready, or do you have time to write it? These are things you need to figure out in order to achieve your goals.
  3. Be Realistic.
If you want to last longer in bed, but only have a tantric massage once a month, maybe you are not being that realistic. If you want to write a book, but you happen to have two jobs and go to play soccer on the weekends, that is not realistic. You need to give yourself not only achievable goals, but also you need to be honest with yourself about how much time and energy you are willing to devote to this.
  4. Don’t Talk, Just Work!
A big mistake we all make is telling people about our goals, which is great if we want to be held accountable, but sometimes it is best to first work and then speak. This is because when you tell people the encouragement we get sometimes is enough to satiate our need for acknowledgement and we become more enamoured with people telling us how awesome an idea is than actually working toward it.
  5. Keep at it!
Truly the one thing that always comes back is that you need to just keep at it in order to achieve it! Don’t be scared and just keep working; you will soon find yourself on the other side smiling. Even if there are detours and the goals change, you just have to put on a smile and keep trekking on.
